A man is to stand trial accused of trying to stab an east Belfast shopowner to death after being allegedly bitten by the victim's dog, a judge ruled today. Raymond Allardyce is charged with the attempted murder of 66-year-old Dennis Wolsey over the incident earlier this year. He faces a further count of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a knife. Allardyce, 50, appeared in the dock at Belfast Magistrates' Court for a preliminary enquiry to establish if he has a case to answer.
